"Rain to Snow"

I think it should be illegal to get out of bed on days like today!

It was so dark this morning when my alarm went off that I literally couldn't see the door. This fact does not make me happy.

What can we do to make this day better...oh yea, eat lots of warm fall comfort food! Good idea.

Up North

There are a lot of different environments in our great country. From the desert to the mountains, beaches to forests, and snow caps to valleys. This past weekend I had the chance to see another part of the country from the perspective of someone who lives there, and another who wants to.

The surroundings sure are breath-taking, you can't deny that.

The first day out there my man brought me to this famous overlook spot where we indulged in a couple Vermont trinkets as well as plenty of photos.

In addition to the Vermont natural view, I got to see what the Man has been working towards these past few weeks at their construction yard. All the wood you see was harvested from old barns, and is gonig to be sold or crafted into amazing things.

We have the first project in the works with the very piece of wood that is being sawed from the whole in this photo.

And of course a trip into the boonies isn't complete without a couple of hours spent at a shooting range where this man put several rounds in a row into the target 300 yards away.

It was definitely a lovely weekend.

Trash Bash & OysterFest

I warned you that there would be an interesting combination of events happening this weekend for Bryan and I, and it was just that.
Friday night we enjoyed "Trash Bash" with many friends. For both of us it was a type of reunion weekend, Bry saw many previous co-workers and friends, and I saw pretty much everyone I've ever known on Cape. lol

The night was complete with friends, artificial tattoos, beer, and a Trash Bash classic, the Dunk Tank!

All current employees were good sports and went into the tank. This was the first year in 6 that I did not have to endure a very cold, wet hug from a dripping Bryan! It was quite nice.

Later that night our friends arrived and after a 2:30am chatting and catch-up session, we managed to wake up and eat Oysters!! It was awesome to have Mr. & Mrs. Super visiting this weekend to share with us the insanity that is Oysterfest in Wellfleet every year. You can read about the festival here.

My Dad cooks Oyster all day long for a friend's seafood shop, my mom (and visiting aunt) served Beer in the beer-tent for 2 hours each day, my Brother stands sentinel and drinks like a champ all weekend while the 4 of us walked around and spent money on a lot of really good seafood.

Please note my awesome necklace in the photo above...hopefully I can convince the very talented artist to sell them at next year's Festivities!

Just to leave you with the image of what "Crowded" means to Wellfleetians in October, here's the aerial view of what you get to experience if you come join us next year!

Thanks everyone for coming, another memorable year for sure!
See you all same time next year!

All At Once

There's so much that happens all at once in life. Its never just oh I started a new job, or oh I have this party to go to. No, it's more like "So I just started this new job and it's 5 hours from home, and I have to be home for a party on Friday, then a Festival Saturday and Sunday"

What that does mean though, is that we have a very fun weekend ahead of us, so stay tuned for another post that is sure to include trash, friends, and oysters.....
(Yea we're probably the only couple to whom a combination like that makes sense...lol)

Camping

This post is a little overdue, but oh well... Better late than never right?
[Champagne was a lovely "Happy Engagement" touch provided by our friends, we're really not having it celebrate our first camping trip, I swear!]

It was our first experience camping together! I'm not quite sure how we made it this long without him dragging me going camping, considering Bryan often sleeps outside in November with nothing more than his sleeping bag just for the heck of it.

This was a special sort of camping trip for a few reasons.
First and foremost, it was Bryan's Birthday, so we had to do something special. I'm not going to reveal his age, but being on this Earth for a quarter century is something to be celebrated for sure :)
Second, it was Matt's Birthday too. (He's the one holding the bottle of beer soda front and center there) Matt is going to be the Best Man at our wedding next year, so this is the first of many celebrations together to come.
Third, (I warned you there were a few reasons here) both Bryan and Matt are planning major changes in their lives within 2 weeks of this camping trip. Both men are moving away from their hometowns, with their respective Fiancees, and leaving behind the job where they have worked together for many years.

It's the end of an Era, and a start of a new one...for all of us.
